Balance and clarity. Since 2019, Raw Material has been working in Burundi through the Izuba washing station and its export company, providing jobs, supporting farmers with resources, and funding local needs. Coffee delivered to Izuba comes from nearby hills including Kigeri. This washed Red Bourbon, grown at 1500-1700 masl in Runinya, reveals a tea-like character with notes of bright citrus fruits (lemon, Oolong tea, mandarin). Producers are local smallholders. Process: Washed. Harvest: July 2025.

Dayglow

Context

Kigeri represents Dayglow's selection from Burundi's Runinya region, processed through the washed method at the Izuba washing station. Built on the Red Bourbon varietal, this coffee balances brightness with delicate complexity—the roaster identifies tea-like qualities alongside citrus clarity, threading through lemon and mandarin notes with subtle Oolong tea character. Washed processing typically emphasizes clarity and acidity, and this lot's flavor profile aligns with that tradition, offering the kind of nuanced, beverage-forward experience associated with high-altitude East African coffees.
