From the roaster

Our second and final Burundian coffee of the season comes from Gahahe, a fantastic washing station in the red clay hills of Kayanza Province serving over 1,700 nearby farmers.

This fully washed lot is an excellent rendering of flavors we've come to love in East Africa. Look for a warm and complex cup with immaculate clarity and layered sweetness - we taste cranberry, golden raisin, dried fig, honey, brown sugar, orange peel, and lovely, subtle florals.

Partners Coffee

Context

This washed coffee from Burundi's Kayanza Province presents a balanced profile typical of the region's processing traditions. Washed coffees from this area often emphasize clarity and structured sweetness, as evidenced here through notes of honey, brown sugar, and dried stone fruits. The Gahahe producer's lot shows the layered complexity common to Kayanza offerings—moving from cranberry and orange peel brightness into deeper fig and floral elements.

Partners Coffee has roasted this Burundi origin to highlight these complementary fruit and sweet notes. The combination of cranberry tartness with golden raisin and honey sweetness suggests a coffee with good acidity-sweetness balance. Refer to the flavor wheel to explore how these individual notes relate to broader sensory categories.
