From the roaster

This coffee is a unique microlot sourced from farming communities across the district of Sironko, along the fertile foothills of Mount Elgon at 1800-2000 masl in eastern Uganda. Smallholders deliver their harvest to The Coffee Yard, a large drying facility established by producer Norman Mukuru. With nearly 2 decades of experience in the coffee sector, Norman founded The Coffee Yard to showcase coffees from across the region and refine post-harvest handling at scale. Since 2018, he has focused exclusively on developing natural processing methods, continuously refining drying techniques to achieve cleaner and more expressive cup profiles.

Round Hill Roastery

Context

This natural-processed coffee hails from the Sironko district in Uganda, a region known for producing coffees with distinctive fruit-forward character. Grown at 1800–2000 meters above sea level by producer Norman Mukuru of The Coffee Yard, this lot represents the output of Round Hill Roastery's sourcing efforts. Natural processing—where coffee cherries dry intact before milling—tends to amplify the inherent sweetness and fruit notes in the bean. If you're new to understanding how processing shapes flavor, learn more about the method here. For a systematic approach to identifying tasting notes in your cup, consult the flavor wheel.
