Roasted by Proud Mary Coffee
Geisha varietal from Ovidio Gomez in Santa Barbara, Honduras processed with honey.

From the roaster
Proud Mary's connection to the Santa Barbara region of Honduras began all the way back in 2012 when we were introduced to a small group of producers situated around the town of Peña Blanca, close to the shores of the stunning Lake Yojoa. More than a decade later, that group of producers has grown in number, and our relationships have deepened. Ovidio Gomez was among the members of that initial group. Ovidio is a man of few words but hidden beneath his gruff exterior (often with a machete in hand), he is a passionate soul who cares deeply for the land and his community. Ovidio’s coffees have developed quite the following amongst our staff and regular customers, with the newest incarnation eagerly anticipated each year. With a relationship that stretches back over a decade, it’d be easy to assume that there aren’t any ‘firsts’ left, to check off the list – but this year brings us just that – we couldn’t be more excited to present, for the first time ever, Geisha from the one-and-only, Ovidio Gomez. This coffee jumped off the cupping table during our last trip to Honduras – a stunning example to Santa Barbara Geisha.
How to Drink: Just like you wouldn't add soda to your best whiskey, this amazing coffee is meant to be drank black with no sugar or cream.

Context
Proud Mary Coffee presents this limited offering from Ovidio Gomez in Honduras's Santa Barbara region, featuring the celebrated Geisha varietal. The honey processing method—which retains some fruit contact during drying—shapes the cup's character, bridging the brightness Geisha is prized for with the fuller body honey-processed coffees tend to develop. This combination positions the lot at an intersection of delicate floral and tea-like clarity alongside richer, fruit-forward dimensions.
As a single-origin microlot from a respected Honduran origin, this coffee invites exploration of how varietal expression and careful processing interact. Use the flavor wheel to map your own sensory experience across its range.
