Colombia - ASMUCAFE - Women Cooperative - Washed
Roasted by Dear Green Coffee
Balanced, easy-drinking Colombian coffee with forest fruits, almond and caramel notes.

From the roaster
A balanced, easy-drinking coffee with clear notes of forest fruits, almond and caramel. Smooth, gently sweet and well-structured, with a finish that’s clean and comforting. Designed for everyday brewing, but with enough character to keep things interesting.
We were lucky enough to visit the members of this cooperative in 2019 and were impressed by their passion and commitment to produce the best coffee they could. The members of ASMUCAFE had even set up a lab to help their own learning and development of roasting and sensory evaluation and in order to improve the quality of their crop and gain a higher price for what is referred to as their 'peace crop' following years of unrest. You can read more over on our blog.
ASMUCAFE stands for Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe, an organization of women farmers and landowners in El Tambo, a municipality within Cauca. The women’s mission as an association is to improve their families’ quality of life through coffee farming, and to contribute positively to their community by working together and sharing resources, knowledge, and support. “Our work is determined by our values such as responsibility, honesty, commitment, respect, solidarity, and competitiveness,” they say.

Context
This washed Colombian from Dear Green Coffee originates in Cauca, a region known for producing coffees with balanced acidity and nuanced flavor development. The washed processing method typically emphasizes clarity and brightness, allowing the coffee's inherent characteristics to shine through. The roaster identifies forest fruits, almond, and caramel in the cup—a combination that suggests both fruit-forward aromatics and subtle sweetness. ASMUCAFE, the producer cooperative behind this lot, represents women-led agricultural efforts in the region. This profile reflects how careful fermentation and drying in the washed method can yield coffees with complexity across multiple flavor registers, from bright fruit notes to deeper nutty and caramelized undertones.
