Rob says: Our first SIKO lot, just three years ago, left a strong impression on all of us. We immediately felt it deserved a permanent place in our range, but its popularity made it hard to secure in the years that followed. We’re therefore very happy to have it back in our line-up. And while we purchased only 360 kilos in 2023, we’ve tripled that volume this season.

The coffee trees in the Siko village are relatively young, and are nurtured through remarkable agro-ecology. The coffee is shade-grown under false banana trees, among other types of trees traditionally used for shading coffee.

This washed Ethiopian from Guji showcases local landrace varietals selected through Ethiopia's agricultural research program. The combination of Dega Landrace and 1974 JARC selections—cultivars bred for regional terroir expression—contributes to the coffee's distinctive character. Washed processing emphasizes the inherent brightness typical of these heirloom Ethiopian varieties, allowing floral and stone-fruit notes to emerge cleanly. Caffènation's tasting profile of hoppy, floral, nectarine, and peach reflects the delicate complexity these genetics can achieve when properly processed and roasted for espresso.
