From the roaster

Located far west in the Western Cordillera Andes mountains of Colombia, there is an association of women banding together with the name AMACA. The Associación de Mujeres Productoras Agropecuarias del Cauca is a group of over 150 women who produce coffee on small farms throughout the region. We've partnered with AMACA to bring you the product of their hard work, and we publish all prices paid to them, which you can find below.

Context

This washed Colombian comes from AMACA, the Associación de Mujeres Productoras Agropecuarias del Cauca—a women-led producer collective in Cauca's Western Cordillera Andes. The region's high-altitude terrain and microclimate are characteristic of Colombia's premium coffee zones. Washed processing typically emphasizes cleaner acidity and more delicate flavor expression compared to natural or honey methods, allowing the origin's inherent characteristics to come through distinctly. Sourcing from women producers reflects growing recognition of their crucial role in specialty coffee supply chains. Onyx Coffee Lab has selected this lot for its particular merit—a testament to both the producer's care and the roastery's commitment to quality partnerships.
