Onyx Coffee Lab
Northwest Arkansas roaster turned competition powerhouse and design-forward specialty leader.

Founded in 2012 by Jon and Andrea Allen in northwest Arkansas, Onyx Coffee Lab grew from a regional roaster into one of the most decorated competition teams in the United States, with baristas placing at the top of US Barista, Brewers Cup, and roasting championships. Onyx is known for radically transparent sourcing — publishing prices paid to producers — alongside meticulous, data-driven roasting and a sleek, modern brand identity that set a visual benchmark for the industry. Its multi-roast approach spans bright, delicate light roasts to fuller espresso profiles. Onyx demonstrated that a roaster far from the coastal coffee capitals could compete at the highest national level and build a nationwide following.
