Roasted by Sightglass Coffee
Bright and juicy washed Caturra with notes of riesling, honeycomb and crème brûlée.

From the roaster
First of three releases from Wilfredo in 2026. We are kicking off with a washed Caturra offering that made us fall in love with Finca Alcatraz in 2011. Bright and juicy, with a full, sweet body, this coffee shines with notes reminiscent of riesling, honeycomb and crème brûlée.

Context
Wilfredo Ule Vargas's Caturra from Finca Alcatraz represents Colombia's tradition of refined, accessible washed coffees. Caturra, a compact Bourbon descendant widely cultivated across Colombia, tends toward balanced acidity and chocolate-forward profiles—though individual lots vary significantly. Sightglass Coffee's interpretation emphasizes floral and caramelized dimensions: riesling, honeycomb, and crème brûlée. The washed process typically brightens and clarifies a coffee's inherent character, supporting these clean, pronounced flavors. This lot offers a window into how Colombian producers and roasters collaborate to highlight complexity within a widely planted varietal.
