Daterra Calabria, Brazil
Roasted by George Howell Coffee
Balanced, heavy-bodied naturally-processed Brazilian coffee with dark chocolate and walnut notes.

From the roaster
We are thrilled to announce the return of Daterra Calabria!
Daterra is a naturally-processed coffee, the traditional method in Brazil due to the relatively dry climate. This roast is balanced, heavy-bodied, and bittersweet, with just the bare minimum of acidity. Dark chocolate and cherry-glazed walnut notes drench the lush cup. We recommend it to anyone looking for a classic Italian-style shot of espresso or to dark roast drip drinkers!
Daterra, meaning “from the earth”, sets the standard for sustainability and regenerative agriculture in coffee. In 2018, they were first coffee farm in the world to receive The Rainforest Alliance Certification Level A, their highest designation. Technology and consistent innovations help contribute to its ecosystem, protecting the Cerrado Bioma of Brazil, the second most important hot spot in the world.
We’re incredibly excited to have this customer-favorite roasting once again.

Context
Daterra Calabria from Brazil arrives via George Howell Coffee, a roaster known for thoughtful sourcing and development. This natural-processed lot hails from Brazil's coffee regions, where the country's distinctive terroir shapes distinctive cup profiles. Natural processing — where coffee cherries dry intact before milling — tends to emphasize fruit-forward and heavier body characteristics, and this lot reflects that with roaster-identified notes of dark chocolate alongside cherry-glazed walnut. The combination suggests both richness and a subtle brightness threading through the cup. This represents a classic Brazilian expression: approachable depth with chocolate-and-fruit complexity that appeals across brewing methods.
