From the southern highlands of Tanzania, this coffee comes from the Mbinga District in Ruvuma, a region known for its fertile, mineral-rich soils and ideal growing conditions. Produced by members of the Sepukila Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society, this lot reflects the collective efforts of smallholder farmers working together to improve quality and access to market. Careful cherry selection is followed by a traditional washed process, including fermentation and slow drying on raised beds, resulting in a clean and balanced cup. This coffee highlights the clarity and structure that Tanzanian washed coffees are celebrated for, while offering a softer, more rounded expression. In the cup, expect a smooth and approachable profile with notes of yellow plum, caramel and vanilla bean, delivering gentle sweetness and a lingering, comforting finish.

Five Senses

Context

Sepukila Washed arrives from the Mbinga District in Tanzania's Ruvuma region, produced by the Sepukila Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society. Five Senses presents this washed lot with notes of yellow plum, caramel, and vanilla bean—a profile that balances stone fruit brightness with sweet, creamy undertones. The washed process typically emphasizes the coffee's cleaner, more delicate characteristics, allowing the origin's inherent flavors to take precedence. This particular expression suggests a coffee that bridges fruit-forward clarity with comforting sweetness, making it versatile for various brewing methods.
