Panama Lerida Estate Lot 5 Honey Gesha Filter - Single Origin.

Finca Lerida is one of Panama’s oldest and most celebrated estates, where a century old commitment to high grown quality and meticulous honey processing yields Gesha cups refined complexity.

Founded in 1924, Lerida has nearly a century of coffee growing heritage and is known for sustainable practices, meticulous processing, and top lots in the Best of Panama competition.

Only fully ripe cherries are hand harvested, then sorted to remove unripe or damaged fruit before processing. The cherries are depulped, leaving a controlled layer of mucilage on the parchment, then dried slowly on covered patios and raised beds over several weeks. This precise honey method produces a clean, sweet cup with vibrant fruit and floral complexity, while preserving the delicate character of Lerida’s terroir and Gesha variety.

Context

Finca Lerida's Lot 5 represents Panama's specialty coffee heritage through the prized Geisha varietal, cultivated in the country's renowned coffee regions. The honey processing method—where fruit remains partially on the bean during drying—typically develops sweetness and body while preserving delicate aromatics. Code Black Coffee has roasted this lot to emphasize floral and citrus characteristics alongside berry notes, creating a profile that aligns with what Geisha coffees are prized for: tea-like clarity and complexity. This single-origin filter offers an accessible entry point to understand how processing choices and varietal expression shape the cup, with the roaster's emphasis on delicate, sweet notes inviting exploration across the sensory spectrum.
