Nossa Familia Coffee

Nossa Familia Coffee was founded in 2004 in Portland, Oregon, by Augusto Carneiro, a Brazilian native whose family has cultivated coffee in the Brazilian highlands since the 1890s. The roaster was established to bring his family's farm-grown coffee to Portland, and those Brazilian fazendas remain central to its direct trade model. Over time, Nossa Familia has expanded its sourcing to include smallholder and family farmers in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Ethiopia, and other origins, working exclusively through responsible importers. The company's stated mission centers on delivering farm-direct specialty coffee while fostering positive relationships across its supply chain—with farmers, vendors, and customers alike. Nossa Familia emphasizes transparency, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability, describing its approach as treating everyone in the supply chain as part of an extended family.
