Havana Coffee Works
Havana Coffee Works is a Wellington, New Zealand roastery founded in 1989 on Cuba Street, known for bold, artisan-roasted coffees and a philosophy of authenticity, inclusiveness, and sustainability.

Havana Coffee Works was founded in 1989 on Cuba Street, Wellington, by Geoff Marsland and Tim Rose, who first met in the 1970s at an alternative primary school. The roastery is credited with revolutionising New Zealand's coffee culture through unapologetically bold coffee roasted in small batches by passionate artisans. Each blend is treated as distinctive, with detailed packaging that tells the story of the coffee's origin, the farmers, and the roasters. In 1990, Havana designed and built its own fluid-bed, hot-air electric roaster, coining the phrase "Roasted with LOVE." In 2017, the company installed a Loring S70 Peregrine roaster, which produces 70% fewer emissions and uses 70% less energy than conventional roasters. Havana emphasises sustainability through biodegradable and compostable packaging, in-house recycling, and composting. The roastery's open-door philosophy, community-focused culture, and commitment to individuality and authenticity remain central to its identity.
