From the roaster

In cooperation with the Piatigorsky Foundation, we are pleased to provide our music-loving friends with this special set from Regalia.

Regalia Founder Paolo Maliksi (who is coincidentally, also a cellist) will be brewing a very lovely coffee from Saraguro, Ecuador from the farm Finca Arashi. The country's coffee production is modest, and is dwarfed by its neighbor Colombia. However, within its territories are some of the world's most nutrient-rich coffee plants, with bewitching cultivars like Sidra, Typica Mejorado, and others. Profile-wise, we are tasting cups from this region that are generally very silky and nuanced, with flavor expressions similar to ripe orchard fruit.

The brewer of choice is a relatively new entry in the single-cup brewing field: the Hoop brewer from the Italian company Ceado. Its design is incredibly simple: novice baristas can produce cups with great clarity with relative ease.

We're offering the coffee and the brewer as a set to webinar viewers, with the option to purchase the coffee by itself.

Regalia Coffee

Context

Regalia Coffee presents this Ecuador Saraguro from Finca Arashi as a silky, nuanced expression marked by ripe orchard fruit character. The coffee carries the name "Concert & Coffee"—suggesting an intentional pairing concept, though details of that specific collaboration remain with the roaster. Ecuador's Saraguro region produces coffees with distinctive cup profiles, and this lot exemplifies the silky mouthfeel and fruit-forward character the roaster has identified. Natural-processed coffees tend to emphasize such fruit-driven complexity, layering sweetness across the palate. Whether exploring these sensory dimensions yourself, the flavor wheel offers a useful framework for unpacking the orchard fruit notes and detecting the nuanced layers Regalia has emphasized in their tasting profile.
