Java

Coffea arabica var. java

Clean, floral, sweet with bright acidity.

The 'Java' variety is, despite its name, an Ethiopian-landrace-derived selection (related to the Abyssinia/Geisha-adjacent material) that was grown in Indonesia and later distributed to Cameroon and Central America. Tall and elongated-beaned, it has earned a strong specialty reputation in Latin America — notably in Panama and Nicaragua — for clean, floral, sweet cups, and it offers some rust tolerance compared with classic Typica and Bourbon.
