Batian

Batian, named after the highest peak of Mount Kenya, was released by the Coffee Research Foundation in 2010 as a tall, disease-resistant variety that matures faster than Ruiru 11 and delivers a cup closer to the prized SL lines. Unlike the dwarf Ruiru 11, Batian can be propagated by seed while retaining resistance to rust and CBD, giving Kenyan farmers a higher-quality, lower-risk option for replanting.
