Ateng
Coffea arabica × canephora (Catimor-type)
Heavy, earthy, low-acid — classic Sumatran character.
Ateng is a Catimor-group variety widely grown in Sumatra and across Indonesia, its name a local reference to Aceh province. Carrying robusta-derived rust resistance and high yields, it became dominant in Sumatran smallholder plots after rust pressure, and combined with the regional wet-hulling process it contributes to the heavy-bodied, earthy, low-acid profile typical of Sumatran coffee.
