Lake Atitlán

Coffee grown on volcanic slopes above Lake Atitlán — bright, citric, and full-bodied with floral lift.

The Atitlán region grows coffee on the steep volcanic slopes surrounding Lake Atitlán, a caldera lake in the Guatemalan highlands ringed by the Atitlán, Tolimán, and San Pedro volcanoes. Many farms here are worked by Indigenous Maya Kaqchikel and Tz'utujil communities, and organic cultivation is common. The lake moderates temperatures while mineral-rich volcanic soils and altitudes around 1,500–1,800 metres yield full-bodied yet bright washed coffees with citrus acidity, cocoa, and floral notes. Atitlán pairs striking terroir with deep Indigenous coffee traditions, making it one of Guatemala's most scenic and culturally rich origins.
